Ambar Lucid (her given name is Ambar Cruz) is 19-year-old Mexican-Dominican musician from New Jersey (that combination probably makes for interesting music all by itself). With original tracks that don’t fit neatly in any one genre (her work is alternately referred to as R&B and “Alt-Latino”), her debut full-length album exposes her experience of the deportation of her father when she was 8 and her moves from New Jersey to the Dominican Republic to Los Angeles.
